External Events

Overview

External Events helps you identify disruptions that may impact your shipments before they become operational issues.

Using live data sources, CONTXT overlays airport delays, port congestion, severe weather, and geopolitical events directly onto the Command Center map, allowing you to quickly understand which lanes and shipments may be affected.

Turn on External Events

  1. Open Command Center.

  2. Select the External Events toggle on the bottom right of the screen with the cloud icon.

  1. The map will display active disruptions.

Understand Event Types

CONTXT currently supports four event categories:

  • Airport

  • Port

  • Weather

  • Geopolitical

Understand Event Severity

Airport and port markers are color-coded to indicate severity.

Selecting an event displays:

  • Event description

  • Start date

  • End date

  • Data source

  • Number of impacted lanes

  • Number of impacted shipments

  • Plain-language impact summary

Drill Down into Affected Shipments

Once an event is selected you can:

  1. View impacted regions.

  2. Select a region.

  3. View affected lanes.

  4. Open any shipment for additional context.

View External Events from a Shipment

External Events are also available directly from the Shipment Details page.

Each shipment automatically displays events affecting its lane, eliminating the need to return to the map.

  • Filter events to reduce map clutter.

  • Review event severity before escalating.

  • Use drill-down to quickly identify impacted shipments.

  • Monitor weather events proactively during seasonal disruptions.

FAQs

Why don't I see any events?

Only disruptions affecting your organization's lanes are displayed.

Can I filter by event type?

Yes. Airport, Port, Weather, and Geopolitical events can all be filtered independently.

Do External Events replace shipment timelines?

No. Timelines continue showing shipment activity while External Events appear in their own panel.
